| | Dr. Jim BroderickAs a therapist I see myself as a guide, assisting individuals, couples, and families in finding their strengths in the midst of the challenges that face them. I see problems as opportunities for significant personal growth and development. I approach problems from a variety of perspectives, but I also trust that my clients know what they need. I try to create a safe environment that leads to self understanding, experimentation, and the the ability to make changes that enhance the quality of the life of my clients.
I have served a wide variety of clients. I treat men and women with a vareity of issues. I specialize in Men's Issues, Adolescence, Couples, individuals struggling in the workplace, and individuals with serious mental illness. I also practice Sand Tray therapy from a Jungian perspective. This type of therapy can enrich the overall therapeutic experience. I have been a psychologist for over 30 years. I am currently the Chair of the Clinical Psychology Program at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara.I teach courses on psychotherapy and supervise doctoral-level students in clinical psychology. Previously I was the Director of Mental Health and Alcohol/Drug in two counties (Shasta and Santa Barbara). I worked in county government over 29 years. I have an appreciation of workplace struggles and how they can impact our lives.
